I think that fashion should not be expensive. But of course, thats not always the case nowadays. You have to know when to splurge on an item rather than finding a cheaper alternative.
When it comes to shoes and bags, I think that it is worth the splurge. A good leather bag and a good sturdy shoe will give you lots of wear because of the quality. I think some bags and shoes are worth the splurge.
Fashion items are a little different. There are so many temporary fashion trends (fads) out there. You NEVERshould splurge on a fad, for example: Harem pants, Jeggings, Crop tops, etc.

Denim is debatable. A good pair of jeans will last you a while and probably wont fade, but they will take a pretty penny out of your pocket. If your weight fluctuates a lot, then splurging on denim is probably not the best option for you. If your weight pretty much stays the same, then splurging on denim is okay because you will get a lot of wear out of the jeans.
The basic mental calculator that is a good idea to use when shopping is:
Item price / # of times you will most likely wear item = Good idea or bad idea
For example say i see a shirt for $50. The weather is about to change and i will realistically wear this shirt 5 times if I buy it. So 50/5 = $10 per wear. ITS NOT WORTH THE SPLURGE. If your like me, then you want to look at $2-3 per wear or less. Its ultimately up to you how much it’s worth per wear.
Hoped this helped!
Sincerely,
Jazz
